JAMB Rules Out Further Extension Of UTME Registration

Jamb The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that it will no longer extend the closing date for candidates registering for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin, published by the office of the Registrar and made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja. The exam body stated that it had traced a large number of individuals seeking an extension to the UTME registration deadline to fraudsters who are hell-bent on subverting and bypassing the decision of the Federal Government to make the National Identification Number a requirement for JAMB registration. COVID-19: NCDC Records 156,558 Discharges At May 30

Coronavirus The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says one person has been discharged on Sunday after recovering from COVID-19 , bringing the total number of discharged cases to 156,558. The NCDC confirmed the new recovery in its latest update, via its official website on Sunday. It also reported 30 new additional COVID-19 infections in three states. The agency said that the country also reported zero death linked to the disease in the past 24 hours. It said that while the case count had continued to creep down throughout the week, adding it is getting closer to dropping below 30. The agency said that the new additional case count included 26 cases in Lagos, Rivers 3 and Kwara 1. Police Kill Murderers Of Ahmed Gulak; Recover Ammunition And Vehicles

The Imo State Police Command has neutralised the killers of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Gulak , and recovered ammunition and vehicles from them. A statement issued by the police on Sunday night noted that some of the arms recovered from the attackers included three AK 47 rifles, one pistol, five AK 47 magazines with 92 rounds of live ammunition. The Senate of the University of Abuja has approved the expulsion of 46 students over alleged acts of misconduct and a breach of their pledge, taken during matriculation. According to a statement issued by the institution spokesperson, Dr. Habib Yaquob, yesterday, five other students were rusticated for one semester. He said the expelled students cut across several departments, and while 15 of the students were in their 400 level; 20 were in 300 level; eight in 200 level, and three in 100 level. Yaquob added that the cases of three others involved in sundry offences would be retried, while seven accused persons were exonerated, discharged and acquitted. At least 200 students of an Islamiyya school located at Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have been abducted. One person was shot dead while another lays critically injured after gunmen carried out the kidnap operation at about 4:30pm on Sunday. A resident of the area Zayyad Mohammed confirmed the incident to newsmen via telephone. Mohammed said the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school where the incident took place, was built by a retired Immigration Officer. Ahmed Gulak Ahmed Gulak, a former political adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has been killed. Gulak was reportedly dead by gunmen in Owerri, the Imo capital. Gulak was reportedly heading to the airport when the assailants attacked him and shot him on the spot. Gulak was trailed from his hotel room to the spot where he was killed.
