India on Wednesday unveiled the world’s tallest statue in the western state of Gujurat in celebration of her unity. Towering at 182 metres, the Statue of Unity is a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a hero of India’s freedom struggle and the country’s first deputy prime minister. Patel, a Gujarati, was known as the ‘Iron man of India’ as he went about persuading all the princely states to join the Indian union after independence from British rule in 1947. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also hails from Gujarat, dedicated Patel’s statue to the people of India on the 142th birth anniversary of the statesman’s birth. The record-breaking monument, which towers over the Narmada River, was built at a cost of 29.89 billion rupees (430 million dollars). Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has accused the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai of being irresponsible. Senator Ademola Adeleke, who contested the Osun state governorship election in 2019 has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Abuja for alleged involvement in examination malpractices. The senator representing Osun West along with four were arraigned before the Court by the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP)  in a four-count charge of impersonation, registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro Osun State to enable them sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017. Other defendants, in the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/156/2018, are: Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (Principal of the school), Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (school Registrar) and Dare Samuel Olutope (teacher). Adeleke and the four other defendants pleaded not guilty when the charge against them was read to them. His  lawyers prayed the court to grant them bail pending trial. Seventeen women, all Filipina expats, were arrested after hosting a Halloween party in Saudi Arabia. The group of women were all detained by Saudi intelligence officers who raided a Riyadh compound on Friday, according to the Philippines foreign ministry. Neighbours had reportedly complained about the noise. It is not known what charges they face however the foreign ministry reiterated that Saudi laws prohibit unattached men and women from being seen together in public. Adnan Alonto, the Philipinne ambassador in Riyadh, told the ministry it appeared organisers of the party had been charged with holding an event without permit and disturbing the neighbourhood, the BBC reported. A 28-year old man, Chibuike Sunday, who went to a popular church in Lagos for deliverance has proved the pastor wrong by stealing the church megaphone without being caught during the service. The incident happened at the undisclosed church located at Cele Mile 2 area of Lagos where Mr. Sunday went for deliverance. According to Sunday, he went to the church for prayers; the presiding pastor told him that he needed deliverance and he agreed to be delivered. He said that after the deliverance, he stole their megaphone and sold it.
