Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has debunked flying around that he plans to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after an image surfaced on the social media, showing him with some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Okorocha was suspensed by APC alongside Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun for anti-party activities. On Saturday, Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sam Onwuemeodo, reacted to the rumours and urged the public to disregard such picture, accusing his political detractors as being behind such postings, clarifying that the picture in question was taken long ago. In 2016, Chukwudi Onweniwe, a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, killed his girlfriend, Nifemi Adeyeoye, after raping her in a farm in Ogbese, Akure North area. Onweniwe(22) who was a part-time student of the Department of Science had told police that he strangled Nifemi, who was a Laboratory Technology (SLT) student of the same school, just for fun. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have constituted a formidable committee to find a long-lasting solution for the continued crisis between the government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Danielson Bamidele Akpan, president of NANS, in a statement on Saturday said the committee’s resolution will bring about new dawn in the educational sector.
